How much does it cost to view AdoptMatch families?
Zilch. Nada. Nothing. AdoptMatch is completely free for Expectant Parents and always will be.
Am I committing to a particular family by using AdoptMatch?
No. AdoptMatch is a tool to help expand an Expectant Parent’s options when it comes to finding a family for her unborn child. We invite you to browse through AdoptMatch Families without any pressure or obligation. You’re not making any promises when you request more information about a particular AdoptMatch Family.
Who are the AdoptMatch Families?
All AdoptMatch Families are ready to adopt and working with an Adoption Professional (either an agency or attorney) committed to AdoptMatch’s Guiding Principles. Each AdoptMatch Family has either completed or is in the process of completing a home study, which is an in-depth investigation by a licensed clinical social worker of the family’s residence, immediate family, finances, health, and emotional readiness for a child.
What happens when I submit a Request for More Information about a family?
Your profile and email address will be shared with the AdoptMatch Family’s Adoption Professional after you submit a Request for More Information. The Adoption Professional will then contact you by email within 2 business days. The Adoption Professional will want to know more about you and will be able to introduce you to the Adoptive Family if you’d like. It’s up to you to decide whether or not you want to pursue the relationship further.
May I request information about more than one AdoptMatch family at the time?
Yes. That’s the whole point of having options! And, since AdoptMatch is all about transparency, each of the Adoption Professionals will receive notifications of the number of AdoptMatch families you’ve inquired about.
By the way, what's an Approved Adoption Professional?
That’s easy. An Adoption Professional is either a representative from a licensed adoption agency or an attorney who is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (AAAA) or an equivalent. In order to become an Approved Adoption Professional, the attorney or agency must register with AdoptMatch and confirm their agreement with AdoptMatch’s Guiding Principles.
Why can't I contact an AdoptMatch Family directly?
Unfortunately, there are people in this world who aren’t as trustworthy as you are. We don’t want anybody in the adoption process to be treated unfairly or misled. Each person involved in an adoption, including you, your child, and the adoptive parents, deserves protection. When the initial contact goes through Adoption Professionals committed to honest, open relationships in adoption, everyone is a little more protected. Of course, once you’re a bit farther along in the process, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get to know each other.
Does AdoptMatch represent the adoptive parents or me?
AdoptMatch doesn’t represent anyone; we’re just a point of connection between you and the Adoptive Parents.
Who sees my information?
AdoptMatch won’t share your contact information until you request further information about a particular AdoptMatch family. At that point, your profile and email contact will be given to the family’s Adoption Professional so they can contact you via email or text. That’s it. You can either respond or not.
What if I need immediate help?
All of AdoptMatch’s Approved Adoption Professionals are committed to assisting Expectant Mothers with the resources she needs. Once you have chosen an adoptive family, the Adoption Professional will begin working on a plan to provide you with high-quality care and support.
