We are Courtney and Landyn, and we appreciate you taking the time to get to know us. We were both born in Washington State and now live in New Orleans. We are lucky to have lived in some other cool places, including Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. We love traveling throughout our beautiful country and beyond. We also enjoy spending evenings enjoying each other’s company, playing boardgames, reading books, or watching our friends perform music. We are very excited to adopt a baby.
Our families have never been limited to biology. Because of our experiences, we decided before we married that adoption would be our only choice for growing our family. The more we learned about adoption, the more excited we became. We could not be more thrilled to become parents through adoption.
We are incredibly fortunate to have family all over the country. Everywhere we’ve lived, we’ve developed close relationships that transcend friendship. From “friendsgivings,” group vacations, and game nights, we have always been able to turn to our friends for support and companionship.
We both grew up with loving families. Whether we’re making Swedish pancakes with Courtney’s family or sharing in Japanese feasts to honor Landyn’s cultural roots, we cherish our traditions and memories. We always feel their support wherever we live.
We know, more than anything else, that our biological and chosen family members across the country cannot wait to welcome a child into the family.
According to Courtney, Landyn is very caring, smart, and fun. He works incredibly hard to reach his goals, whether as a runner or professionally as a law professor, and he always encourages his students and everyone he knows to pursue their dreams and goals. Landyn lights up any conversation with his inquisitiveness and sense of humor. He also loves cooking, especially for his friends and family.
According to Landyn, Courtney is incredibly organized, deeply caring for others, and open to new adventures. Some days, those adventures include running over 26 miles; other days, those adventures involve tackling a complex 2000-piece puzzle. Courtney is good natured and always happy to curl up with a good book. She is an expert problem solver - Landyn has met few people who are as intuitively handy as Courtney is. She is fun to spend time with in any setting.
We met in our hometown in central Washington State and grew up in the same church when we were young children. Our families still live just a few minutes apart from each other. We started dating in high school and went to different colleges across the state from one another. After we graduated, we married and moved together to Indiana for graduate school. We have been married for more than 11 years.
We hope that our future child finds their passions and pursues them, whatever those may be and even if they are not paths that we have taken ourselves. We want our child to be confident and courageous, taking chances to enjoy and learn from every new experience and all our communities have to offer.
We believe deeply in open adoption and will hope to hear from you about the openness that you prefer. Our hope is that openness will help maintain the child’s connection with their roots, whether that includes annual or semi-annual visits, regular photos and other life updates, or something else. Regardless of the level of openness that you prefer, we promise that the child will know of your caring strength to provide your child with a stable home and a bright future.
